To balance the stress of working as an RN in Emergency at a Level One Trauma Center, Lynette Fulton started taking quilting and sewing classes which lead to a degree in Fashion Design.
Lynette taught multiple quilting classes at a local quilt shop for many years. She was also a Bernina Educator for 7 years, teaching Mastery classes and hosting the monthly Bernina Club. Traveling to quilt guilds for lectures and workshops was also done for several years. She has had quilts juried into ROAD to CA and Paducah quilt shows earning ribbons at ROAD. The feathered star quilt that won Best Traditional Large Quilt raised over $5000 in 2000 for a children’s charity. Ornate feathers were quilted on her domestic sewing machine with its pitifully small throat space.
There were many years that working full time and caregiving for a dear friend kept Lynette from quilting much at all. But that did not keep her from going to quilt shows and supporting the quilting industry! Retiring from a long nursing career in January 2020 has enabled Lynette to have ample time to make quilts. Lynette machine quilts on a computerized Handi Quilter™ longarm but really enjoys free motion quilting on her stationary longarm machine. Being a Handi Quilter National Educator for a few years allowed her to share her love of quilting with others. She quilts for her own personal use and for charitable causes.
Lynette is exceptionally proud of becoming a Certified Stripology™ Instructor with GE Quilt Designs where she is also a pattern tester and sample maker. She teaches quilt classes and hosts a Lil’ Club showcasing the new Lil’ patterns at a local shop. She also lectures at quilt guilds, sharing many quilts made with patterns by Gudrun of GE Designs.
Lynette and her husband Richard, a retired fire fighter, live in San Diego, California.
