A RESOURCE LIBRARY FO

What I’ve learned, made to share.

For more than 30 years, I’ve been making quilts, learning new techniques, using different tools and machines, teaching others and solving problems along the way. The AQH Resource Library brings those experiences together with practical information, tips, videos, guides, charts, projects and resources to help you make informed decisions and keep learning. You don’t have to read it in order. Start with what you need today and come back as your questions, skills and quilting change.

Learn. Quilt. Grow.

The Library is designed to grow with you.

You may start with questions about making a quilt—fabric, patterns, thread, batting or binding. Then comes the next question: How am I going to quilt it?

Explore quilting methods, learn about rulers and free motion, understand your equipment, or begin using Pro-Stitcher.

As your skills grow, the Member Library goes deeper with longarm quilting on a frame, quilting designs, digital quilting, quilt math, thread and tension, creative projects and real quilts where I share the decisions I made and what I learned.

Inside the library

Find what you need. Follow where it leads.

Choose a category based on what you want to learn or the question you have today. Within each category you’ll find different types of resources—articles, How Do I? instructions, videos, mini guides, quick references, projects, patterns and digital designs.

Read online, watch a video, download a reference, or follow a related topic to learn more.

Don’t be afraid to explore. A question about thread may lead you to needles and tension. A quilting design may lead to a project. A project may introduce you to a new ruler, technique or digital design.

That’s how the Library is meant to be used—one question, idea or project can lead to the next.

A Note from Barb

I created this Library because I don’t believe there is only one right way to make or quilt a quilt—and I want you to understand why, not simply follow someone else’s steps.

There are wonderful classes and videos that show you exactly what to do, but they don’t always show the choices, mistakes, practice and problem-solving behind the finished project.

Why press this seam? What happens if you don’t? Why cut the fabric this way? Could you do it differently? What worked—and what didn’t?

I share what I’ve learned from making quilts, teaching, experimenting and sometimes discovering the hard way what doesn’t work. My goal is to give you the information behind the process so you can understand your choices, solve problems and decide what works for you.

Learn the why. Understand your choices. Make it your own.
