January 11th & 12th Stationary Quilting Workshop Lynnette is an award winning quilter that has been apart of the national quilt shows and brings all of that experience into her classes. This event is specifically for quilters that use their sewing machine to quilt. Her expertise is quilting on a stationary tabletop; moving the fabric under the needle. These classes will expand your skill level and provide various techniques to create texture for beautiful quilting. She will show how to bury your threads, her favorite rulers and tools wants you to challenge her with any quilt questions.
This January event is what you need after a busy holiday season. - March 12th - 17th Retreat Session 1 - Exclusive Quilting Retreat Join this session for targeted education. All quilters are invited to join this session. If you are a beginner wanting to make your first quilt. Eager to build your piecing or applique skills. Want to improve your longarm skills or finish your own quilts on a longarm machine. Bernadette Kent and myself will create an agenda customized to you and what you want to learn.
- March 18th - 23rd Retreat Session 2 - Workshop Retreat Unlike the first session there will NOT be an agenda. This session is open quilting; an opportunity for you to work and explore. Join Bernadette and myself as we collaborate and work on new ideas and projects. Now is your chance to explore fabric choices, try different threads outside your comfort zone and explore your style of quilting with the support of educators.
- March 25th - 30th Retreat Session 3 - Annual Longarm Retreat with HQ Educator If you are thinking of purchasing a longarm, you recently purchased a longarm or you are finally ready to learn more about your machine and all that it is capable of then you MUST attend a longarm bootcamp. This session is repeated every year and it is how I learned my machine after I purchased. Five Bootcamps later I still learn something new every time because every instructor shares their own experiences and tips. DO NOT MISS this small group longarm training. You will not find one on one training with only six quilters anywhere.
What makes our quilt retreats different other retreats? We are in Hawaii and we live share the aloha spirit! It’s akin to the distinction between a spa visit and a simple massage, or a boutique shopping experience versus a department store browse. It’s all about the immersive experience and the personalized attention, where you feel truly pampered and cared for.
Picture this: You’re picked up from the airport, your hotel or even your home if you live on Oahu, so you can relax and leave the driving to us. Upon arrival, after the beautiful coastline drive you’re greeted with your favorite drink and a snack as you get situated into your room. Then, it’s time to explore because you have the whole first day to learn your way to the beach, find where the kitchen and works space and more importantly the quilt shop. It’s like stepping into a fashion show, with fabrics and threads carefully curated from Barb’s collection, each chosen for their unique colors and styles that capture the essence of Hawaii. After everyone has arrived, we will spend some time getting to know each other, you will receive your gift box and we will go over the agenda for the week. You will leave with a sense of accomplishment for all that you learn. Before you head back home you will get to choose fabric for your quilt wallhanging project created by Barb.
During your stay we will have the option to go out to dinner, shop for souvenirs and fabric and take in a nighttime Luau show. All this is optional and not included in the price but we want to make sure you go beyond the beach and feel like you have experienced Hawaii before you depart.
