What to expect?

Not your ordinary quilt retreat. All you have to do is fly into Honolulu and we take care of the rest. No packing up your sewing room or worrying about what to bring. Just throw your summer clothes into a carry on, throw your carry on into a large suitcase (so you have room for your gift bag, purchases and whatever you find to bring home) and catch your plane.

You will be met at the airport to be driven along the beautiful windward coastline to the retreat center. Your arrival day and departure days are separated from your class days to give you time to adjust and enjoy Hawaii at your leisure.

Session One - Exlusive Quilt Retreat

March 12th - 17th

If you want to learn about fabric colors, thread choices, a specific piecing technique, improve your longarm skills or just come to Hawaii and make small quilt projects. This is the session you want.

A customized agenda for each quilter will be created.

You will receive a survey and we will create projects and classes specific to your needs and interests. But of course it will have a Barb spin on it with a touch of Aloha thrown in.

Session Two - Open Session

March 18th - 23rd

A creative space to explore and share ideas. Working on your ideas and creating projects you have been thinking about. This session is for those that need to get away and concentrate on their art or need quite time to create. Those working in shared or small spaces that need to spread out and have all the machines, tools and supplies available.

Session Three - Handi Quilter Longarm Bootcamp

March 25th - 30th

This session is for those quilters thinking of buying a longarm, have a new longarm or need a refresher to really explore all that is possible with a longarm machine.

Four days Longarm Workshop starting with bootcamp basics then moving through a creative journey of freemotion, rulers, embellishing and Pro-Stitcher. All techniques and quilting styles will be explored.

Jeannine Grabowska longarm quilt business under Chickadee Cottage Quilting and an award winning quilt professional. Her experience is in all aspects of quilting.

Get ready for Session 1! The exceptional Bernadette Kent, a seasoned professional quilter, is teaming up with us to elevate your quilting prowess. You have the freedom to pick your focus – be it piecing patterns, selecting the perfect fabrics and threads, mastering layout and design concepts, or learning how to quilt and beautifully finish your masterpiece. And guess what? Handi Quilters sewing machines and a full suite of quilt stations are at your disposal. It’s a quilter’s dream come true!

March 18th – 23rd 2025 – $1200

Session 2 – Let’s bring our quilters together for a fun-filled workshop, where we will each dive into our personal projects while also sharing and exchanging our unique ideas and designs. This isn’t just a workshop; it’s a chance to embark on a creative journey together. We have a laid-back environment that encourages you to immerse yourself fully in your projects while also gathering valuable insights from our fellow quilt enthusiasts in this wonderful industry. Whether you are interested in patterns, quilt designs, projects, or any other aspect of quilt-making, we can’t wait for you to join us in this joyous celebration of creativity and skill.
