Got Ideas? Let’s Quilt It!

Barb’s classes aren’t your typical quilting lessons—they’re creative experiences packed with inspiring lectures, eye-opening samples, and skill-building strategies that leave “just follow the pattern” far, far, far behind.

Barb’s classes offer a relaxed and safe space to learn and explore quilting techniques. She teaches and mentors through handouts, lecture, samples and demonstration. This is not your regular quilt class that you sew and do what the teaches says.

The goal is everyone walks away with new knowledge, perspective and inspiration that can be applied to any project when they are home working on their own. Build your skills.

The goal is to build your skills, not leave you with another UFO to take home.

Longarm Clubs

Pro-Stitcher Third Saturday at 9am
Longarm Quilty Club Third Saturday at 11am

Let’s gather, share and grow. I'm so excited to have two longarm clubs. We have separated the Pro-Stitcher quilters out so that we can have hands on and learn a new design and a new tool each month we meet.

The Longarm Quilty Club will continue on with talking story then move on to show and tell. We discuss thread, notions, a quilt design, websites, patterns and anything else we want to share. We take a snack and shopping break before we close.

All clubs will have a takeaway project this year.

Quilting on Zoom

Quilting on Zoom First Friday at 6pm
HQ Owners on Zoom Last Tuesday at 9am

Do you have questions about making a quilt? Not enjoying or understanding how to use your machine or frame. Join in on zoom and ask questions about what you are struggling with.

Quilting on zoom will start with Q&A and if no one has questions then it will be a class about or private fabric collection. Our stash. Let's organize it, use it and enjoy what we bought or move it along.

HQ Owners can send me topics so I can prepare to cover your interests or just jump on and ask a question. If you don't have a question, then jump on and I'll share a tip.

Kailua Quilty Club

Kailua Quilty Club First Saturday at 10am

Let's share the joy of quilting together!

Linda is our host, I will still be facilitating the meeting.  The club includes lecture, demo and show and tell.  Any level and all styles of quilting are welcome.
We will talk about thread, fabric or patterns. But my passion is taking the mystery out of quilting so we will talk about how to finish your quilts.

Find a Class or Club, Find Your People!

This class is my version of block of the month. By creating a runner of the month. It allows me to share how a quilt block or technique is created but then we move on to the creative ways to layout the blocks and finish with discussing how to quilt it.

Get to know Barb and her unique coaching technique that requires you to be creative and go beyond following a quilt pattern.

These topics are covered in conversations in our clubs and in the classes.  I encourage you to think about these three B’s and ask questions about them when you attend a club, class or open house.

Come to open house and discover the 108 wide fabric collection I have in stock. This can be used for backing, borders and the binding so there is no piecing involved. Even better the same fabric will connect your top to your back.

2025 I will be focusing on my quilt making. As I create I will use the QuiltEmail newsletter to share resources, tools, tips, that I will be using in my projects.

There will be links to websites.

Photos and videos on what I’m working on.

Photos from around Hawaii I find inspirational.

Learn about quilting by following my quilt journey for the year.

This is a hands on class. I will be quilting and you can ask questions and try out new designs. Let’s share how to start a library of your designs and break them down to modern lines, fun loops or various swirls so you aren’t just defaulting to the meander. If you love the meander let’s add a little circle or square for some interest. Quilting can be done in various ways: on a domestic machine, longarm stationary, longarm frame or hand sewn. It doesn’t matter how the quilting is created its all about what you are confident in quilting.

Quilting is a design element that adds the final touch to complete a quilt. Come watch me quilt and ask questions.

You never know what I will be working on.  If you quilt from the back and want to watch me do pantograph work, let me know. I could be working with rulers, embellishing with couching or customizing with pro-stitcher.  You can show up or you can call and ask what I’m working on before you  arrive.

Piecing is usually what a quilt class or retreat entails. We focus on skill building, conversation, handouts, note taking and inspiration.

This is an introduction on how a quilt is made and will help a quilter struggling with one of the steps to get targeted education in the area they need help with. This is for all levels of quilters.

Zoom allows me to reach all quilters. I want to make sure I’m accessible to quilters on the neighboring islands.

There are two zoom meetings the first is on a Friday evening, between finishing the week and before starting the weekend. the second the last Tuesday of the month in the morning at 9am.  My goal over zoom is to answer any questions. After Q&A I will share what was discussed in previous clubs or classes. and end with providing a project.

This class gives you the opportunity to complete a project with expert guidance, or experiment with different fabrics. Unlock the secret recipe that’s perfect for T-shirts, panels,  large print fabrics, your favorite fabrics that you’re hesitant to cut, orphan blocks, or any other fabrics you’ve been wondering how to use! Not just that, you’ll also have the pattern and ideas to take home.
