Got Ideas? Let’s Quilt It!

Barb’s classes aren’t your typical quilting lessons—they’re creative experiences packed with inspiring lectures, eye-opening samples, and skill-building strategies that leave “just follow the pattern” far, far, far behind.

Barb’s classes offer a relaxed and safe space to learn and explore quilting techniques. She teaches and mentors through handouts, lecture, samples and demonstration. This is not your regular quilt class that you sew and do what the teaches says.

The goal is everyone walks away with new knowledge, perspective and inspiration that can be applied to any project when they are home working on their own. Build your skills.

The goal is to build your skills, not leave you with another UFO to take home.

Find a Class or Club, Find Your Quilty People!

I’m a facilitator and/or coach. With my classes you don’t bring your machine and supplies; just show up to learn. I encourage bringing fabrics from your stash or a quilt to you want to share or ask an opinion on. Every gathering is focused on a project or skill but more important each individual walks away with a new idea or new knowledge that can use in their quilt projects at home. Try a class and see if Barb’s style of teaching is for you. You won’t know until you try.

Ready to make your first quilt — or refresh your skills — from the very first cut to the final stitch? Make a Quilt is the perfect class for beginners, returning quilters, and creative craft makers in Hawaii. Learn the full quilt-making process, including choosing fabrics, reading patterns, cutting and sewing accurately, pressing seams, and building your quilt top with confidence.

Looking for a quilting class that’s a little different — and a lot more fun? See What’s Stitching isn’t your traditional quilting class! In each session, you’ll create a new quilt block, build your piecing skills, and explore creative ways to use your blocks — whether you turn them into a runner, wall hanging, or continue growing your blocks to a bed size quilt, its up to you. Every class adds a new design to your personal quilt library, giving you endless inspiration for future projects!

Are you ready for an adventure in quilting? Ready to turn your quilt top into a finished usable quilt — and have a blast doing it? Jump into the Let’s Quilt It Challenge and experience the thrill of quilting your own quilt on a longarm machine! No experience? No problem! Barb takes care of the setup — from loading your quilt and threading the machine to helping you select a simple, beautiful design you can do. All you have to do is show up, have fun, and start quilting!

This is a hands on class. I will be quilting and you can ask questions and try out new designs. Let’s share how to start a library of your designs and break them down to modern lines, fun loops or various swirls so you aren’t just defaulting to the meander. If you love the meander let’s add a little circle or square for some interest. Quilting can be done in various ways: on a domestic machine, longarm stationary, longarm frame or hand sewn. It doesn’t matter how the quilting is created its all about what you are confident in quilting.

In How to Quilt It – Plan Your Quilting, you’ll bring one or more of your quilt tops and learn how to thoughtfully plan the quilting process based on how the quilt will be used, who it’s for, and the story you want it to tell. We’ll explore important decisions like choosing thread colors, selecting design styles, and understanding how quilting density affects the look and durability of your quilt.

In this class From Closet or Stash to Stitching, Barb will show you how fun and easy it is to transform your special fabrics into a memory quilt or a one-of-a-kind project. Forget the strict quilting rules—this class is all about making quilting approachable, inspiring, and achievable. Barb’s “Secret Recipe” an amazing method and streamlined techniques will give you the confidence to dive in and get sewing, no matter your experience level.

This class is Free- Motion Quilting. There are many ways to quilt free motion – self guided quilt designs, precise rulers or quilting from the back with pantographs. Each method has its own skills; free motion classes turn those practice pieces into real progress! play with new free motion designs and threads and then cut up the practice fabric and turn it into a quilted book cover.

Owners Build Confidence; NOT a owner sign up and create a make andfor this class. You’ll learn more than just the computer—Barb will guide you through how to use the computer to modify designs, and make modifications within the software. Her hands-on approach helps you troubleshoot common issues and build real confidence using your system. Once you’ve got the basics, keep growing with advanced classes or one-on-one training to learn all the creative ways you can quilt. Let’s make ProStitcher simple, successful, and fun!

If you are thinking of purchasing a longarm, you recently purchased a longarm or you are finally ready to learn more about your machine and all that it is capable of then you MUST attend a longarm bootcamp. This session is how I learned my machine after I purchased. I still learn something every time I witness a bootcamp, session at a Handi Quilter Educator, every instructor shares their own experiences and tips. DO NOT MISS detailed longarm training. You will not find one on one training anywhere else in Hawaii.
