Barbara, a longarm quilter, became a Handi Quilter Retailer for Hawaii in 2021 and began planning an annual retreat to introduce neighboring islanders to longarm quilting. Now in its third year, the retreat caters to all skill levels, drawing on Barb’s six years of professional mentorship and collaboration with industry quilters. Bernadette Kent with be our visiting educator to offer her expertise in thread, tension and piecing skills.  The immersive program features unique lectures, practical handouts, inspirational samples, and an hour of daily personalized training with Barb. Participants work on hands-on projects tailored to their pace and interests, enhancing their skills, and exploring new techniques. Whether you’re a novice or expert, longarm machine owner or creative enthusiast, this program offers a chance to discover computerized quilting, experiment with embellishments, and expand your quilting prowess. Six students – come together as a group in the morning and evening for informative lectures, handouts with tips and samples to inspire and to encourage questions and conversations. Enjoy a relaxed learning atmosphere to work at your own pace and focus on what you want. One on one training with Barb for 1 hour each day. Spend the day working on your projects; machines, instructions, fabric, batting, thread and all supplies included. After signing up receive a questionnaire to create your personal four day agenda.
