Longarm Quilting Class –
This class is Free- Motion Quilting. There are many ways to quilt free motion – self guided quilt designs, precise rulers or quilting from the back with pantographs. Each method has its own skills; free motion class dates include all methods and include small projects using your practice fabric. Classes include patterns for a Machine Cover & Notebook Cover using your practice fabric.
Let’s start with those that want to quilt from the front creating their own quilting designs. Let’s work on the skill of building your library of designs and break free from rigid, repetitive quilting! This class is designed to help you build your free motion skills in a more creative and freeing way. Forget quilting identical designs in rows—Barb’s approach helps you make the most of your machine space while finding a style that works for you. Learn to avoid over-quilting with tiny patterns and instead explore tips, tools, and techniques that make free motion quilting more fluid, fun, and personal. Let’s turn those practice pieces into real progress! play with new free motion designs and threads and then cut up the practice fabric and turn it into a quilted book cover. The great part is if you have a ugly stitch somewhere we can cut it, hide it or make it beautiful. Learn how to be forgiving and how you can use all that practice fabric and turn them into great gifts.
Another Form of Free Motion is Quilt with Precision: Ruler Work on the Longarm Frame
Rulers bring control and precision to your quilting, helping you stitch in the ditch, stabilize block shapes, and add clean, beautiful lines to your designs. While longarm quilting often focuses on speed, some quilts deserve a slower, more intentional approach. In this class, you’ll learn how to properly hold and use rulers, explore the variety of shapes available, and discover which ones work best for your style. Barb’s hands-on guidance will help you build confidence and unlock new design possibilities. Let’s build your skills and take your quilting to the next level!
Still Part of Free Motion – Quilt from the Back – Pantograph Quilting Made Simple
Learn how to quilt using pantographs—a method that lets you follow pre-printed designs with a laser light from the back of your machine. It’s a great option if you’re not ready for computerized quilting or prefer not to plan custom designs. With Barb’s hands-on guidance and deep experience, you’ll gain confidence in stitching consistent motifs, advancing your quilt, lining up rows, and choosing patterns that suit your machine and style. Pantographs add beauty and meaning while holding your quilt together—let’s start stitching from the back and bring your quilts to life!
